Day 7: Visiting the Courthouse

The American group and their exchange partners were invited for a reception today with the Mayor (Bürgermeister) of Weiden.  The event was formal, so we all dressed up a little bit.   We met at the school in the morning and walked together over to the new courthouse.  It's been raining for the past couple of days here.  It's a good thing everyone remembered their umbrella! (Fortunately, it was only a couple minutes of walking)

The Mayor presents Knoch High School Vice Principal Todd Trofimuk with a gift.

Mr. Trofimuk gives a speech of appreciation to the German GAPP administrators, the teachers, and the students.

The American students share the new experiences they've had in Germany so far.

It was still raining after we left to return to the school.

Britni, Mili, Lisa, and I went to see the last part of Harry Potter in 3D in the afternoon.  The movie was only showing in German, but Britni and I were both surprised at how much of the German we could understand.  We are huge Harry Potter fans, and we will see the movie again in English anyway when we come home, but it was a great experience for us to relax and listen to German in a story we were already familiar with.  (Prisca Edwards)

Lisa, Mili, and Britni were very sad that we had seen the last Harry Potter movie.  Britni and I will always remember we saw it in German.
